Jun 04, 2018
Rookie League baseball is an incredible program that provides 70 children between the ages of 8 and 11 years old with the opportunity to experience the game of baseball. While participating, they build on the spirit of teamwork and can also develop leadership skills. The league is made up of 4 teams that play a scheduled game and one practice each week for a period of 6 weeks throughout the summer. The teams are coached by London Police Officers who volunteer their time for this important community project. The London Majors Baseball team host the first training day at Labatt Park. The players and coaches meet each other and talk about the season and working with some London Majors ball players on developing baseball skills. The season is kicked off with an Opening Ceremony and moves into regularly scheduled games at Vauxhall Park. London Majors baseball players pitch and umpire each game. Rookie League Baseball program is sponsored by a number of community partners including: Joe Kool's, London & Middlesex Housing Corporation, London Majors, Forest City Youth Slo-Pitch, and the London Police Service.
